This year, we produced four and a half gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity, enough to power over 1,000 homes. This was almost half a gigawatt-hour more than we had predicted, and was possible despite a disappointing June, because May and August were bathing in more sun than anticipated.
More generation means more funds to distribute to local community activities in the coming years. This year saw our Bizzy Kids fund distribute £5,419 to projects that benefit young people.
These funds went to the Swan Community Hub, St James and St John C of E Primary School, Gawcott Pre-school, and Akeley Parish Council. The funding supported putting on kids summer holiday activities for families struggling to make ends meet, as well as equipment to improve play facilities for local children. Gawcott Pre-school will use the funds to increase the amount of time that their children can play outside, exploring nature.
