Gawcott Solar CIC has awarded £15,000 in grants to local sports initiatives. Eight initiatives were supported in two rounds of grant funding. The initiatives are expected to benefit over 2,000 local people. The beneficiaries were:
Buckingham Winslow & District Scouts
Sailing equipment (three kayaks) to offer water experiences for scout members.
Leap
Activity sessions for women and girls. Sessions include: Mummy fit, teenage girls/early adult fitness, swimming and coach to 5km.
Gawcott & Hillesden Cricket Club
To replace ground equipment used by volunteers to maintain aspects of the Richard Roper Playing Field.
Moretonville Junior Football Club
Improvements to pitches to allow greater drainage and therefore playing time over winter/spring. Car park improvements, including more spaces, filling of potholes, marking of parking spaces (where possible) and better signage. Replacement of some fixed metal goals with portable wheeled goals, that are safer and easier to use.
Padbury Village Football Club
Purchase of team kit for new teams created to meet growing demand in the area.
Winslow United Junior Football Club
Purchase of mobile goal sets.
Tingewick Football Club
Equipment and coaching costs to start a new team due to increased demand.
Gawcott with Lenborough Parish Council
Replacement of the pavilion tables. The pavilion is used by a variety of sports groups, as well as other community groups.
The grant process was managed by Heart of Bucks Community Foundation.
