In 2019 our community solar farm produced over four and a half gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity, enough to power over 1,000 homes. Despite a disappointing June, May and August were sunnier than anticipated.
Community grant fund
This year saw our community grant fund distribute £5,419 to projects that benefit young people. These funds went to the Swan Community Hub, St James and St John C of E Primary School, Gawcott Pre-school, and Akeley Parish Council. The funding supported kids summer holiday activities for families struggling to make ends meet, as well as equipment to improve play facilities for local children. Gawcott Pre-school will use the funds to increase the amount of time that their children can play outside, exploring nature.
Bee Warm energy advice service
Our Bee Warm energy advice service run by Milton Keynes-based charity National Energy Foundation has supported 65 households to receive a home visit from an energy advisor and over 300 engagements via NEF’s call centre.
As a result of these engagements, we helped secure £160,000 in new energy related benefits income for local residents. There were also savings of £24,000 from helping people switch suppliers and install energy efficiency measures.
Bondholder interest payments up to date
This year’s interest payments to our solar bondholders were made on 20th March. Interest was paid at 6.55% for the year to 31st December 2019. Bondholders should have received an email from Ethex at the same time.
