The installation of thermally efficient ceiling tiles will reduce energy bills for the charity that runs the much-used community space, which is also regularly used by residents in neighbouring Lenborough.
A £9,000 grant was provided through the Bee Green grant fund, which supports community-led and environmentally focused projects.
After the application was made, it was agreed that the project was a great fit for the Bee Green grant criteria, serving both the community and helping reduce the building’s carbon footprint.
“Having a properly insulated village hall will make a big difference to our running costs and to the comfort of everyone who uses the building, especially during winter,” said Alan White of the Gawcott Village Hall Charity.
“This will enable us to continue serving the community, and we’re really grateful to Gawcott Fields Community Solar for their support.”
The Bee Green Fund is currently open to new applications, with an annual total of £25,000 available for community groups, charities, and environmentally minded organisations in the local area, focusing on sustainability and community benefit.
Gawcott Fields Community Solar is a not-for-profit community energy organisation that operates a solar farm near the village. Profits from the sale of renewable electricity are reinvested into the community through grants like the Bee Green Fund.
The fund is open to any group, charitable organisation, or committee dedicated to improving the lives of local people within 5 kilometres of the Gawcott Fields Community Solar site, including Buckingham.
