Funding From Bizzy Bees Supports Local Youth
The Bizzy Bees fund from Gawcott Fields Community Energy allocated £5,419 to five local projects that improve the lives of young people in the area.
This summer funds were granted to Akeley Parish Council, Gawcott Pre School CIO, St James and St John C of E Primary School PTFA, and Swan Community Hub.
They all shared their commitment to improving services to young people, but each did so in their own way.
Akeley Parish Council requested funds to repair and improve play area in the village so that young people didn’t have to travel out of the area to enjoy playground activities. Improving a local resource helps with accessibility and therefore can tackle loneliness.
Gawcott Pre-School asked for financial support to improve life skills, education, employability and education of the children in its care through offering a greater variety of activities. Their grant will contribute to the purchase of sports equipment, dance equipment and nature investigation equipment.
St James and St John C of E Primary School PTFA proposed the purchase of a large piece of imaginary play equipment that would be used increase the hours of active play the children can engage in, offering improvements to mental and emotional health.
Swan Community Hub aims to improve peoples’ mental health, physical health, wellbeing and safety. This will be achieved by offering summer activities to families who might not otherwise be able to give their children opportunities to learn skills and develop.
The Gawcott Fields community fund allocated £20,149 between August 2018 and September 2019.
