Wrapping up 2024 in the final quarterly newsletter
End of year update on Gawcott Fields Community Solar’s community impact and performance.
...read moreOne year on from receiving a Bee Green grant from Gawcott Solar, the Greener Padbury Group’s “Go Wild in the Woods!” programme has made a fantastic impact, bringing children and families closer to nature through engaging, hands-on experiences in the great outdoors.
Throughout 2024, 59 children and their carers took part in ten 1.5-hour family sessions, exploring themes such as pollinators, natural shelters and den building, owl pellet dissection and plant identification! Each session encouraged environmental awareness and included a take-home action to extend the learning beyond the woods.
Cassie Riggs from Greener Padbury Group reflected on the year:
“We have run four Go Wild sessions so far this year, all thanks to Gawcott Solar – that’s 59 children (and their parents/carers) into the woods. The themes of the sessions have included ‘plant power’ and ‘beneath your boots’.”
Take a look at some of the highlights from the past year below. This funding was provided by Gawcott Solar’s Bee Green grant fund, which focuses on supporting environmental education as one of its core missions. As we look ahead, we’re excited to see how projects like this continue to inspire the next generation of nature enthusiasts.
About the Greener Padbury Group: Since its launch in 2022, Go Wild has welcomed over 100 children and 45 families, receiving enthusiastic feedback from parents who report that their children are more confident, observant, and connected with nature.
